Dear friends and family,

As 2023 begins to wrap up, we wanted to give you another quick update. This past year has been an adventure to say the least. Moving a young family of four from a large Canadian city to a small Ugandan village has been interesting. Some of the challenges were expected, and others caught us completely off guard. God has been gracious in our transition and for that, we are exceedingly grateful. We have made a home here, we’ve found roles in this organization, and we’ve found a community of amazing people. Though we still face daily challenges, and some tough days, we are blessed to know that God has placed us here, and there is no shortage of important work to be apart of.

Since moving in April we’ve had many opportunities to help serve our community in Kibaale. From discipleship and education, to training parents on how to farm and helping students find sponsorship, we feel like we are just getting started here. The needs here are great, but we are excited to continue building on over 30 years of progress that has been made here.

We thank you, our community of supporters. Thanks to those who respond every time we send one of these emails out, with kind and encouraging words. Thanks to those who make the effort to regularly text us and arrange phone calls despite the 11-hour time difference. Thanks to those who are regularly praying for our family. Despite these glowing emails there are real difficulties that we walk through each day and your prayers matter. Last, but not least, thank you so much to those who have sacrificially given to our family’s work here. I say it every time, but it’s true, without your gifts we wouldn’t be able to live and serve here.

Thanks to everyone who has donated to our work over the past year. We’ve been overwhelmed with the response we got when we began fundraising in 2022. Through your one-time and monthly giving, we have been so blessed to focus on our mission here and have not had to constantly worry about finances. Over 2023, some of our monthly budget has been made up of your one-time gifts. At the end of the year, we will have used up those funds. We need to raise an additional $800 per month, or a total of $9600 for 2024.

Would you consider giving another one-time gift, or join us as a monthly donor? You can click here or on the link at the bottom of this site.

Again, thank you. We are greatly blessed to be on this adventure with all of you. We pray this Christmas season you may be blown away by the goodness of God as you take a moment to reflect. Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us, and Christmas changes everything.

God Bless,

The Unger Family
